Information for Healthcare Professionals
One of our charity's aims is to share information about SDR and the aftercare required with healthcare professionals. We liaise with the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee about service provision in Wales and are currently awaiting news on Wales' involvement in the Commissioning through Evaluation process being led but the English NHS.

Dr Park's presentation on 23 March
Dr T.S. Park from St Louis Children's Hospital, Missouri, made his first visit to Wales on the weekend of 22-23 March 2014 to attend a children's party at St David's hotel. He kindly agreed to give a presentation to healthcare professionals earlier in the day, and an informal seminar was organised at the Wharf in Cardiff Bay.
We were delighted to welcome around 40 healthcare professionals, all having given up their own time on a Sunday afternoon to learn about Dr Park's experience and ask him some questions. This included a neurosurgeon and neurologist, orthopaedic surgeons, paediatricians and physiotherapists. Dr Park gave a presentation with his centre coordinator and senior physiotherapist, Deanna Walter, and then took questions. Topics covered in the Question and Answer session included:
A full note of the Q&A session can be found HERE
Feedback from the event was good. We are very grateful to The Wharf for offering us their atrium room at very short notice for the event, with no charge. The majority of attendees rated the presentations as good or excellent, although the room itself was not ideal for a formal presentation. Several people said they would like to attend another event organised by Support4SDR Wales in the future.
