Ideas and support documents for fundraising

Fundraising is a daunting task and even more difficult when you do not have charitable status.  There are a number of charities who may help with fundraising support including providing access to a charity number which allows you to take advantage of fundraising websites such as Just Giving.

Two charities used by families are Tree of Hope and
Caudwell Children.  Please click on their names to find out more.

A fundraising ideas document is available HERE.  The author is  an experienced fundraiser who has had SDR as an adult and runs his own charity, Footsteps of West New York.

How much should we aim to raise?  Costs can be anywhere between £30,000 and £60,000 depending on  where you have the surgery, whether additional operations are  required such as tendon lengthening surgery or corrective eye treatment and the extent of the aftercare required.

If you would like further information on some of the aftercare options used by families, please look at our aftercare section.

What you choose should not only depend on the cost, but  also on what therapy would best suit your child.  Sometimes it takes trial and error to find out which one or combination works best for you and your child.  Other  families can share their experiences.  Join our facebook page to get in  touch with families who have been through the SDR journey.
